Developer contributions fund new pedestrian crossing in Worthing

Released: Monday, 16 September 2024

A new pedestrian crossing at Chesswood Road in Worthing that has been funded with money from developers will help children get to school more safely.

Worthing's cabinet last week agreed to give nearly £230,000 of section 106 money to West Sussex County Council to install a new signal-controlled pedestrian crossing at the crossroads between Chesswood Road and Ladydell Road.

The new crossing facilities will provide a safe route for local parents and children walking or cycling to Davison High School and Homefield Primary School, as well as those travelling further to St Andrew's High School, Springfield and Lyndhurst infant schools.

The plans tie in with our ambition to improve active travel across Worthing by creating routes that make walking and cycling safer and more accessible.
